About

So glad you're here.

I'm Caitlin, a product designer with 15+ years in startups, currently at Wonderschool making early childhood education more accessible.

I do my best work in fast-moving, imperfect conditions: where requirements shift, data's incomplete, and someone still has to make the call. My strength isn't following a rigid process, it's applying judgment, taste, and product intuition to move things forward responsibly.

Good design doesn't just improve interfaces. It reduces organizational anxiety, aligns teams, and creates momentum.

How I work

I design by making decisions visible. Without perfect research or long runways, I focus on surfacing the right questions early and being explicit about tradeoffs, clarity over ceremony, progress over perfection.

1
Clarify the real problem

Often different from the initial ask.

2
Identify constraints early

Time, data, tech, business pressure.

3
Explore widely, then narrow decisively

Multiple directions quickly, one clear bet.

4
Communicate the reasoning

Clearly, to PMs, engineers, and stakeholders.

5
Ship, observe, and refine

Real signal beats more deliberation.

Collaboration style

I work best in close partnership with product and engineering, especially when direction is ambiguous. I'm thoughtful about when to push back, when to align, and when to move forward despite uncertainty, valuing direct communication and shared ownership of outcomes.

What I optimize for
  • User understanding over novelty
  • Product coherence over one-off wins
  • Long-term trust over short-term metrics

How I've grown

What I've learned designing in the real world.

Process is a tool, not a requirement

The value is in thinking clearly, not in how many artifacts exist.

Most product problems are alignment problems

Design succeeds or fails based on how well teams share context.

Good judgment beats perfect data

Especially when speed matters.

Taste compounds

Strong design decisions build trust over time, even when impact isn't immediately measurable.

What you can expect from me

A designer who is calm in ambiguity, thoughtful about tradeoffs, honest about constraints, and focused on shipping work that actually helps people.

Experience

15+ years turning complex, multi-sided platforms into products people trust.
